Humans were such easy things to fool. Just one bat of your eyes, or a flash of a grin, and a demon would have them eating out of the palm of their hands. It made everything so much easier, both on the human and demon, when they were simple and ignorant to the true horrors of the world.

Not all humans were so easily manipulated, however, and the tricky ones were what Blaine went after. He enjoyed unraveling them bit by bit, earning their love and trust over time, before going in for the kill when they least suspected it. Feeding off of them was much more rewarding than any other human, as well. Their willpower didn’t provide much energy, but the fear that festered just beneath the surface? It drove Blaine wild with power. The humans that put up more of a fight had more to lose - more to fear losing - and feeding from that fear made Blaine feel as if he could make the entire world crumble beneath his fingertips. He felt like he was what the humans referred to as a “god”.

After so many years spent living off of the meager creatures that inhabited the dwelling world, Blaine had grown cold and distant of any feelings he’d had before becoming a demon (not that he remembered anything before his demonic life). He never got close to any of his victims, no matter how beautiful or intelligent they were, even when the occasional survivor would morph into a fellow demon. They had no recollection of their human life, no emotions kept from their time alive, so there was no point to it anyways.

However, when he met Kurt, things were different.

From the very beginning, he knew that this human wasn’t like the rest of them. He had a fire - a spark - to him that was unlike anything he’d ever encountered. He was a much more passionate lover as well, leaving Blaine reeling from their many sexual encounters. Blaine almost felt a sense of bliss from being with Kurt, but when the word “love” drifted into his mind or ever came up, he would remind himself that he had no feelings, no emotions whatsoever, and whatever he was “feeling” was merely hunger that Kurt could only satisfy if Blaine fed from his energy. However, one night, all of this changed.

They were curled up together in bed, naked and spent from making love the entire night, with Blaine holding Kurt in his arms and Kurt lazily kissing at Blaine’s jawline. Normally, Blaine’s body wouldn’t stir from the affection of a mere human, but Kurt’s touch alone sent jolts of arousal coursing through his body, something he hadn’t felt in what seemed to be forever (which could very much be possible).

Before he could actually process this, though, Kurt pressed his lips to Blaine’s ear and delicately whispered, “I know what you are. I know you have no feelings toward me, or any reason to keep me alive, so what are you waiting for?”

“Excuse me?” Blaine questioned as his honey brown eyes melted into dark black orbs. Kurt didn’t seemed phased by the change, but he tensed when Blaine’s arms tightened around his waist.

“You heard me,” Kurt said softly and looked Blaine directly in the eye, “aren’t you going to kill me like you do with every other human you meet?”

Blaine narrowed his eyes in anger before shoving Kurt on his back, clamping a hand over the countertenor’s mouth before he could make a noise. “How do you know about my kind-”

Before Blaine could finish his sentence, Kurt gripped his wrist tightly before flipping him over so that Blaine was being straddled by a now grinning Kurt. As Blaine tried to regain his senses, Kurt laughed - no, cackled - maniacally and much to Blaine’s shock, his cerulean blue eyes transformed into pitch black orbs that rivaled his own.

“Never reveal yourself to a kill unless they’re already dead,” Kurt snarled down at the still very much confused demon. “You’re almost as pathetic as the newbreds, I swear.”

“You’ve known this entire time,” Blaine muttered, staring up at him in disbelief. “You were just testing me.”

“And using you for sex,” Kurt added with a wicked grin. “You’re not all that bad in the sack; I’ll give you that much.”

“Not that bad?” Blaine sneered defensively, using the element of surprise to flip Kurt over. “I’ll show you just how amazing I am, you little brat.”
